Our engine problems have been solved and the frame is almost ready. The geometry has been designed to provide maximum torsional strength and safety. Of course it also complies with the FS rules and requirements. Welding work has been done by Mika & the boys with great precision. The FORM500-tubes provided by SSAB have been

Thanks to Sah-Ko, we got materials for our welding fixture really quickly. A 10 mm steel sheet works as a base, and the fixture is built from 3 mm sheet with a water cutter. The picture below shows the completed fixture for the front part of the framework. Due to some engine problems, we have to keep
Lately we have been making some purchases, which is nice. We’re actually starting to have a neat pile of components for our first ever Formula Student -car. Yesterday some 80 kilograms of steel tube was added to that pile, big thanks to SSAB for that! This means that the construction of our frame has begun. Stay
Our december began with a roadtrip to Tampere. We visited Tampere UAS Motorsport with a group of five (a nice 980 km trip in a fully packed car). The day was really interesting, we had a good chance to get answers to some questions from an experienced team. The guys from Tampere shared good advice

Hello world. Our framework design is locked. It means that we can start welding it as soon as we get the materials and construct a jig. Our team is spreading around Finland to work for the summer though, and that will delay the construction a bit. The remaining development work continues through the summer. Oh,

Our front steering knuckles are taking shape. Olli did some FEM analyses simulating 1.5 g deceleration of the car, and the structure seems to be really strong. Strong enough to be optimized even further, since we don’t want to have any excess material weighing the car down. Being unsprung mass, the steering knuckles need to be

Here you can see the first version of the pedal box with AP-R master cylinders and a Tilton Racing balance bar. The clutch is basically needed only on launch, so it could also be operated by hand, but we’ll see if we can fit it nicely in with the other pedals. The pedal box

This is a bit old news, but worth notifying. Ruukki is assisting the project, so we’ll be using some quality steel for the car! We’ve also gotten support from the Association of Automotive Technical Societies in Finland’s Antti Saarialho -fund. The grant will be used in acquiring an engine control system for the car. We’re
